PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Log-Gevity Log Finish Coat is an oilbased,
low VOC product designed as the
second step in a two-step process for
use on horizontal and vertical wood
surfaces.
Log-Gevity Log Finish Coat consists
of several essential wood protecting
ingredients blended specifically to
generate a strong adhesive bond with
the Log-Gevity Log Stain & Stabilizer.
It also reinforces the UV and moisture
inhibiting attributes which maintain and
protect the life of the finish, while
providing the aesthetically appealing,
natural looking, rich warm glow
commonly associated with natural wood
finishes.
Unlike many film forming finishes, Log-
Gevity Log Finish Coat is breathable
and will not crack or peel. Log-Gevity
Log Finish Coat completes the solution
to your log home care needs. Additional
additives are not needed. Four UV
inhibiting ingredients, including reflective
metals, provide a resilient barrier that
protects against damage caused by
exposure to harsh climate conditions,
wind and moisture erosion, and UV
radiation.
Precautions: Read the entire material
safety data sheet and product label for a
more thorough evaluation of hazards.
Fully protect all adjacent surfaces, as
well as, general work area. When
spraying near vegetation, cover plant life
with cardboard or other suitable material
in case of overspray.
Environmental Hazards: This product
maybe toxic to fish. Do not apply directly
to water, to areas where surface water is
present or to intertidal areas below the
mean high water mark. Do not
contaminate water by disposal of
equipment washwaters. Do not use on

PROPER SURFACE PREPARATION
IF YOU HAVE NEW OR OLD, DIRTY
OR WEATHERED LOGS/WOOD
(Including sidewalls, decks, fences,
dimensional lumber, roofs and most
other log or wood structures.)
- Clean logs/wood with Log-Gevity
New Log Prep or other Log-Gevity
product.
- Apply a coat of Log-Gevity Log
Stain & Stabilizer.
- If color is desired, select from a wide
variety of pre-mixed, ready-to-use Log-
Gevity Stain & Stabilizer transparent
and solid color stains.
Note: Once the Log-Gevity Stain &
Stabilizer is applied, your logs have
sufficient protection for 12 months or
longer before finish coat or chinking need
to be applied.
- Apply Log-Gevity End Grain Sealer
to exposed log ends.
- Apply a top coat of Log-Gevity Log
Finish Coat.
- Apply Log-Gevity Log Chinking
anytime after the stabilizer or finish has
been applied and cured.
For Decking: Once the Log-Gevity
Log Stain & Stabilizer is applied, your
wood has sufficient protection for 1-3
years. One coat of either stabilizer or
finish coat is sufficient.
It is recommended to clean all surfaces
with Log-Gevity Log Maintenance
Wash on an annual basis (especially
decking) or as needed and always before
reapplication of *maintenance coat, such
as Log-Gevity Log Stain & Stabilizer
or Log-Gevity Log Finish Coat.
*Maintenance coat for decks is defined
as a thin wiped on, smoothed out
application and is great for rejuvenatingcolor!
Follow the complete Log-Gevity
product specification sheets for detailed
instructions.
IF YOU HAVE AN EXISTING COATING
(i.e. FAILED FINISH)
- Strip the previous coating with the
recommended Log-Gevity Stripper.
Note: Before beginning the overall
stripping project, test panels should
always be made on all elevations to
conclude satisfactory performance and
dwell time. Follow the complete Log-
Gevity Stripper instructions.
- Follow Steps 1-6 as stated above.
GENERAL DIRECTIONS
It is a violation of Federal Law to use this
product in a manner inconsistent with its
labeling.
Mix Log-Gevity™ Log Finish Coat well
before using. A test area should be performed
before beginning overall project to
determine the amount of Log-Gevity™Log
Finish Coat the wood will absorb, dry
time, log/wood porosity and total desired
look.
- Apply Log-Gevity™ Log Stain &
Stabilizer with a low pressure (HVLP)
sprayer. Work vigorously into all surfaces. If
using a low pressure sprayer always back
brush into surface.
- After Log-Gevity™Log Stain &
Stabilizer has flash dried, which may take
30 minutes or longer, top coat with Log-
Gevity™ Log Finish Coat .
- Apply the top coat of Log-Gevity™ Log
Finish Coat with a brush or low pressure
sprayer.
- Apply as much Log-Gevity™ Log
Finish Coat as the logs/wood will
absorb.
- To avoid runs and streaking, back
brush product from surfaces before
drying. Rough sawn logs/wood will
generally absorb more product evenly;
however, it will still require back brushing.
- Keep a wet edge to avoid lap marks.
- If the logs/wood can absorb more Log-
Gevity™Log Finish Coat and extra
protection or more depth of color is
desired, apply a third coat at a later date.
Note: Using the Log-Gevity™ Log Finish
Coat as the second step in a two-step
system will yield the best results.
SHAKE ROOF / SIDEWALL SHINGLES
APPLICATION
Before applying this product to shake roof
surfaces make sure to use an OSHA
approved safety harness to prevent
slipping and falling from the roof surface.
Roof surfaces can become extremely
slippery during and just after the application
of this product.
- Apply Log-Gevity Stain & Stabilizer to
cedar shake roofs with a low pressure
sprayer (HVLP) or heavy nap roller.
Saturate well.
- Keep a wet edge to avoid lap marks.
- After Log-Gevity Stain & Stabilizer
has penetrated the surface and has cured,
which may take seven days or longer,
apply a top coat of Log-Gevity Log
Finish Coat. Using the Log-Gevity Stain
& Stabilizer as the first step of a two coat
system will yield the best results. Note: If
the shakes can absorb more Log-Gevity
Log Finish Coat and extra protection or
additional color depth is desired, apply a
second coat of Log-Gevity Log Finish
Coat at a later date.
DRY TIME: Each wood surface may have
different dry times due to wood porosity. It is
recommended to allow at least 24 hours to
dry.
CLEAN UP: Use mineral spirits or dish
detergent and water. Should Log-Gevity™
Log Finish Coat come in contact with
surfaces such as glass, paint, metal,
caulking or rubber, remove immediately
